Meet our doctors

Dr. Kristin Heeney, O.D. (Owner)

Dr. Kristin Heeney has been leading Spadina Optometry since 2002. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo and is certified to diagnose and manage ocular disease.

Her experience includes focused training in ocular disease and therapeutics, and supporting patients before and after refractive surgery. At our clinic she provides dry eye care, including structured dry eye assessments (such as meibography), and works with patients on a plan that matches both the cause of their dry eye and their day to day routine.

She also fits advanced contact lenses, including multifocals, monovision, and other complex fits for people who have struggled with standard lenses.

Dr. Ema Hazra, O.D. (Associate)

Dr. Ema Hazra has been practicing at Spadina Optometry since 2018. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo.

She focuses on myopia control for children and teens, working with families to evaluate risk factors, track eye growth over time (including axial length measurements), and build a personalized treatment plan. Depending on the patient, that plan may include specialty lenses, orthokeratology, and low dose atropine.

Dr. Hazra also fits custom specialty contact lenses, including scleral lenses, for patients with irregular corneas, significant dry eye, or complex prescriptions.

Dr. David Wilkinson, O.D., FAAO (Clinic Director)

Dr. David Wilkinson has been practicing at Spadina Optometry since 2007. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) and is a certified clinical investigator, with a professional focus on contact lenses and myopia management.

He leads scleral and specialty contact lens fittings at our clinic, including fits for keratoconus, irregular corneas, and other complex prescriptions. He also provides myopia control for children, with a particular interest in orthokeratology and monitoring axial length.

From 2012 to 2021 he served as a Practice Advisor at the College of Optometrists of Ontario. He is also a part time clinical instructor at the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Science.
